Jess Porter, owner and President of EEC, Inc, grew up in Midwest City, Oklahoma and graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1974 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. After graduation, he worked in Nogales, Mexico and Nogales, Arizona as an administrator for a hospital supply manufacturing company. In 1976, he relocated to Columbus, Ohio and served as a sales representative for the company. In 1978, he moved back to Oklahoma to manage the business affairs of his father, Dr. W. H. Porter, which included real estate, banking, and oil and gas.
In 1980, success in the oil and gas business prompted Jess to purchase Empire Equipment Company from his father. Empire Equipment Company originated in 1956 as a small oil and gas equipment company that also owned working interest in several wells. Deciding not to be in the equipment segment of the oil and gas industry prompted Empire Equipment Company to shorten its name to EEC, Inc. in 1981. Over the years, EEC, Inc. has both drilled and purchased oil and gas wells ranging in depths from 2,800 feet to 13,800 feet. Currently EEC, Inc. operates and/or owns interests in over 70 properties in Oklahoma. EEC, Inc. is generally the largest interest owner in the wells it operates.
In addition to EEC, Inc., AmeriSource Energies, Inc. was formed in 1996 to purchase mineral interests and currently owns mineral and royalty interests in 39 counties in Oklahoma and Texas.
